No space too small and the more unlikely the better.

Lisa Hannigan

Calry Church, The Mall, Sligo
Friday 25th July : Doors 8.30pm, Gig 9pm
Tickets : €15

The Model is delighted to present Lisa Hannigan in Calry Church as part of it’s model::offsite series; new spaces for music. Using our lack of a venue to our advantage, the Model will be experimenting with new spaces for live music throughout the year. Unusual rooms, outdoor spaces, places where live music is not normally encountered, will all become new spaces for music with performers drawn from a range of music genres. The series began in April with Canadian electronic act Milosh performing in the Coney Island Suite of the Radisson SAS Hotel and Spa, and continues throughout the year with concerts in unusual spaces around Sligo.

Lisa Hannigan returns to Sligo for a New Spaces performance this July. Probably best known for her collaborations with Damien Rice, stunning singer-songwriter Lisa is set to release her eagerly anticipated debut album this autumn. Judging by the demo tracks available to preview on her myspace the album, recorded in Dublin’s Cauldron studio with producer Jason Boshoff and mixed in The Strongroom, London, is set to more than satisfy fans of her stunning voice, who last got a taste of her vocals on the single Some Surprise taken from the hugely successful charity album The Cake Sale.

Lisa will be using her stunning voice to great effect in the somewhat unusual surrounds of Calry Church on The Mall in Sligo, on Friday 25th July 2008, where she’ll be previewing songs from the album with her live band.
Although her Rice collaborations are perhaps the most well known, Lisa has also been involved with many other side projects in the Irish music scene, contributing backing vocals to Sideways Down on The Frames' Burn the Maps and Mic Christopher's What a Curious Notion for his posthumous debut, Skylarkin, in addition to performing on the soundtrack for the Irish film Goldfish Memory.

This is Lisa’s second performance in Sligo, having played one of her very first solo concerts in the Model Niland in November 2006 as part of The Model and Donal Dineen’s acclaimed experimental music series Month of Sundays. Lisa and her band were invited back for the Month of Sundays west coast tour in 2007 and played another outstanding performance in Killorglin in Kerry.
