For more than 100 years the Trades
Club was a traditional social and community centre in Sligo town. The
club operated successfully due to generations of voluntary management
and was based on the principle of providing a social service
rather than creating profit.
This project will see Nolan bring together, and collaborate
with past members and potential future members of the club and
invite them to become involved in the organisation of the club’s
revival as a working social institute.
The Trades Club Revival will open with an exhibition of memorabilia
from the club’s history from which a permanent archive
of images and objects might be compiled for public access. The
artist would like to invite members of the public who have such
material or would like to become involved with the project to
